Over my right shoulder, Hershey appeared, heading towards his nest.

1st photo: Godiva took action when an unknown male bald eagle came into her territory.
BTW, she still hasn’t laid eggs. The male is to the left.
2nd photo: Godiva has taken the upper level and chased the male from the cove.
JL Eagle nest report, LL&H nest 01/16/2017
State Ranger Steve McMurray has shared with us a photo of Lady Lake at the LL&H nest.
He took the photo yesterday through a spotting scope.
Thanks Steve for letting us know Lady Lake is bright eyed and on her nest.

At First Nest, Kate is keeping the eggs warm and safe.
At H&G nest Godiva hasn’t laid eggs yet and Hershey is still bringing her treats.
JL Neighborhood is a new feature I am adding;
it will have a mix of non-breeding eagles and their neighbors, large, small, bird, mammals, etc.
Hope you all will enjoy it.
The 2 year old bald eagle below was fishing at the far south end of the lake.
The very early morning light sure makes him glow!
winter hummingbird update, 2 photos January 7, 2017
My friend who is providing the winter garden home for the rufous hummingbird
here in Wake County has sent me an update with 2 photos.
You can see the light bulb behind the little female
that my friend put up to provide some warmth under the house eave.

The yellowish tint here is due to the yellow of the heat lamp. Spa time for the little bird.

Kate has stood to roll the egg(s).
The eggs must be rolled every 1-2 hours to keep the embryos heathy.
