First Nest

Resolute has FLEDGED!
I didn’t get to see the first flight which I think occurred on Friday.
I did get to catch this much of Resolute’s flight this morning.  She was about 500 feet from the nest.
The fledging occurred when Resolute was 12 weeks of age.
Hopefully I will be able to catch the newest flier at the lake out in the open soon and get a photo for all of you.

First Nest

Kate had just finished feeding Resolute.
Resolute will be 8 weeks old on March 24.  He is almost as big as mom.
I managed to grab these few seconds of video.
My camera that I usually use for doing videos is not happy.
I resorted to using my iPhone to catch a few seconds of the live view from my other camera.

First Nest

I didn’t get to directly see Resolute, argh, again!
However, Kate brought in this huge mat of nesting material.
She then proceeded to feed Resolute, but he was behind one of the branches.
I could see her tearing off bites and leaning in to feed him.

H&G nest

Godiva was sitting on her nest when a 3-year-old bald eagle buzzed the nest.
Godiva in lower left corner and 3-year-old in the sky.
Hershey (not shown) showed up zooming at top speed and the juvenile eagle left in a flash.

First Nest   CHICK!!!!!

first photo: see if you can find the chick: look for a white fuzz ball with 2 black eyes …
and if you have trouble, go to second photo

Chicks at this age are white going to grey, have bright black eyes, and bobble because they have trouble holding their heads up.
It didn’t help me that the wind was blowing at 14 mph and the sky was totally overcast,
it was drizzling rain and all was dull grey so I hope the photos are ok.

The osprey has returned!! and at least 3 weeks early.  I usually see them start to arrive about March 3.
While watching the eagle chick, I heard the osprey before I saw him.
I thought I was hearing things in anticipation of warmer weather, and there came the osprey around the shoreline.
