Jordan Lake: this very aristocratic yearling is one of the Gang of Eight. I had been watching the H&G nest, trying to see if eggs had hatched (I was not able to verify that). Then I watched five of the members of the Gang of Eight go streaming past me and most of them went around the corner. This yearling lingered behind.
Jordan Lake: A young bald eagle decided to visit me. It was about 10 minutes after sunrise this morning. The bald eagle gave me the joy of being able to do a video so that I could share the youngster with all of you! Take care, be safe. Stay well!
Jordan Lake. At the golden hour this morning, I found mama Godiva out on the perch in front of her nest. That is dad Hershey that you can see inside of the nest, just to the left of the main trunk. Their egg(s) should hatch just about any day now. So I am watching very very closely!
Jordan Lake: High Rise Nest. First bald eagle CHICK for us to celebrate this season!!! This is a nest that I don’t often get to see unless I am out with Captain Doug. We went drifting by yesterday and lo and behold there was a gray fuzzy chick in the nest with mom. Hooray!
Jordan Lake: Part of the Gang of 8 decides to chase each other, one of whom has a fish, rather than pester the parent bald eagles … for the moment. By the way, the fish wins the round.
Jordan Lake: Yesterday, late morning, Captain Doug and I were out cruising and checking on bald eagle nests. We went to check the Big Pine Nest and there was Mom Loblolly incubating her egg(s) and we could fully see the upper half of her head and her great big beautiful eye. Captain Doug and I went on about the lake checking out other nests and so we came back by Big Pine Nest early in the afternoon. Now we could barely see the top of Loblolly’s head and could only make out a bit of her eye. The difference in the two photos and why in the first one you can see her eye and in the second photo you have to look hard to see the rim of it? That’s because in the late morning photo there wasn’t any one in the parking lot at the shelter. When we came back by in the early afternoon we could see people standing in the parking lot. Mom Loblolly was definitely keeping tucked down into her nest and as out of sight as possible.
