First Nest CHICK!!!!!
first photo: see if you can find the chick: look for a white fuzz ball with 2 black eyes …

Chicks at this age are white going to grey, have bright black eyes, and bobble because they have trouble holding their heads up.
It didn’t help me that the wind was blowing at 14 mph and the sky was totally overcast,
it was drizzling rain and all was dull grey so I hope the photos are ok.
The osprey has returned!! and at least 3 weeks early. I usually see them start to arrive about March 3.
While watching the eagle chick, I heard the osprey before I saw him.
I thought I was hearing things in anticipation of warmer weather, and there came the osprey around the shoreline.

The weather this morning was grey, cold and with heavy mist.
Raisin however, was full of energy!

The chicks will be 10 weeks old on Friday.
This morning both chicks were trampolining and branching.
It was fun to watch.
Every breeding season there has been 1 very light chocolate brown chick in this nest
– dad’s genes I think.
Granola is the light chick and Raisin is the dark chick.

By early afternoon the rains of the past few days had finally stopped.
Almost everybody began drying out!
I watched Hershey come flying in and start to groom.
Up in the nest, Granola on the left was stretching while Raisin watched.

H&G nest
The bald eagle chick Raisin was branching when dad Hershey arrived with a fish.
Chick Granola had been to the right of the main tree trunk but quickly came for his share of food.
In my experience the father eagles are more prone to feed both chicks at the same time.
The moms tend to feed the largest chick first until it is full and then feeds the smallest chick.
