Jordan Lake. Like our emerging nation in 1776, which wrapped itself in the Stars of Freedom, this fledgling Bald Eagle of 2022 is also wrapped in the stars of freedom. Jordan Lake. Hard Luck Osprey Nest. You may remember that last year the parents at this nest lost their offspring to a bald eagle and then they lost the tree and their nest in a storm. This year the parents, at a new tree and nest, have a chick that’s gotten to the stage of wing wapping and it’s thinking hard about flying in a few weeks!
Jordan Lake. My new camera equipment allowed me to bring to you a very close-up look at a chipping sparrow thoroughly enjoying a feast of midges. Once again my thanks to all of you who helped with the GoFundMe through your support in so many ways. Please enjoy this minute with the chipping sparrow and it’s breakfast.
Jordan Lake. The sheer astonishment that I feel when observing a bird in flight is of the same intensity whether I have just photographed the majesty of a bald eagle or the delicate dance of a prothonotary warbler. Flight: an act that almost defies gravity.

Jordan Lake. I am used to seeing the great blue heron – standing tall and still as a statue – as it waits to catch a fish, that I find myself quite fascinated when I can photograph one in-flight through the trees. It always makes an interesting composition. I hope you agree!
