This eaglet was hatched about 10 months ago here at Jordan Lake. Great to see it successfully fishing!

Bald Eagle Momma Kate at First Nest has laid her egg or eggs!
Now comes a period of about 32 days while both parents care for the eggs until they hatch.
I want to share with you a bald eagle of a very special sort … my friend Paula Page, a marvelous whirligig artist and wildlife photographer, has a large wooded yard that is a bird paradise. In her yard, birds of all sorts live and visit, except for any bald eagles, until this week. Regretfully, a storm damaged one of her oak trees so severely it had to be removed. Paula looked at the damaged tree and saw a beautiful possibility. She contacted chain saw artist Corey Lancaster of Boon Hill Gallery in Johnston County, NC and he transformed the bottom 7.5 feet of the tree into a memory that will be with all of us for a very long time! Paula gave me permission to share her photos of the transformation.
