The two chicks have fledged. The park rangers have let me know that the two babies of Momma Kate and Dad Petruchio at First Nest have flown. I wish I could have seen that happen and brought to you photos of the event but the stay-in-place kept me from that part of the lake. But it is good to know that the babies are out and flying. The photo here is one of the fledgling from last year from First Nest. So some good news in the middle of all these tense times.
Jordan Lake and Haw River: The sun worked its way up above a single layer of clouds this morning. Slowly it’s shape grew. Have a blessed day, take care. Stay well.
Definitely not at Jordan Lake! Grayced the Cat, my home companion, wanted to share with you some of HIS birds he watches while Doc is at the lake. This is a pair of House Wrens, cousins to the Carolina wren, getting the nest box ready for eggs and chicks. At this point in the process it is Momma wren that is doing the nest construction. Dad wren dashes about singing his territory song – I wish I could have shared his song with you but the little iPhone couldn’t capture the sound through the picture window. Mayhap we should follow Grayced the Cat’s lead and find a nook that is tucked away and brings security for a good night’s sleep. Peace and Grace, Doc Ellen and Grayced.
