Jordan Lake: I watched this female Osprey Fledgling catch a fish this morning. Then she promptly did what she needed to do next: the youngster shook off all the excess water from her dive and lightened the weight she had to carry in her flight to a nearby tree. The shake is done exactly the way a dog does one … starts at the beak and twists through to the tail.

By Peregrine Falcon!

Jordan Lake! Peregrine Falcon!! This speedy bird came off of the Ebenezer Beach area and it was heading south down the lake. I saw it and caught seven rapid fire shots of it. And the bird was gone. It was not even doing its famed 200 mph hunting speed. The falcon was only cruising as it went past. I don’t usually see peregrine falcons at the lake until December. So wondering why this one showed up this early. Sure hope you enjoy the speedster!

Jordan Lake. These two young bald eagles came boiling off the shoreline way to my left. You are seeing the third of the rollovers that occurred in front of me as the two bald eagles passed by. That is a four year old bald eagle that’s being really aggressive and the one that’s upside down is a three year old bald eagle. They were still tumbling and jostling for supremacy when they went screaming around the corner and out of sight.

Jordan Lake. Ospreys often dance … the whole arc of sky their stage. This performance occurred this morning. I am glad I can share the moment with all of you.

Jordan Lake, Dawn. This is the third hover that Hershey had done inside of four minutes. He came dashing off of the shoreline, went into a hover, looked, pulled out, circled around. He did that same hover, half dive maneuver once more. You are seeing the third hover that he held for more than 4 seconds. You can also see that he once again did not actually go after whatever it was in the water that had his attention. I sure wonder what it was that had caused the repeated attempts!
