This 3 year old bald eagle was being stealthy.
My friend spotted him way back inside the upper-story of a pine.
The juvenile was strategically placed between 2 osprey nests.
The youngster was willing to wait for one of the male ospreys to fly by with a fish –
that the eagle could steal from the much smaller bird.

Quiz meets his mom when she flies in. He aggressively checks out her talons – hoping she has a fish. Mom Kate does not. There are several short clips of Quiz “trampolining” – strengthing his wings and legs. Notice that he is getting air under his feet!

In the photo below: Mom Kate is on the perch limb to the right.
Quiz has his back to us and is to the far left of the nest.

Hershey, the father at the nest which is located in the forest block next on the prescribed burn list,
(reports will be titled “H&G” in all future write-ups),
brings in a repair stick and then the 2 chicks begin stretching wings and bouncing.
The chicks’ play is hard on the nest.

eagle family report: Quizzical 4/25/2016
Quiz is bored and itchy. He scratches at an itch on his face. Note how bright yellow his feet are. I sometimes spot juvenile bald eagles by seeing their feet before seeing their head and body.
