Hershey wanted the fish the vultures had found. Being THE eagle, he took the fish. The vultures wanted it back. A ruckus ensued.

Raptors all over the Lake!
This pair of adult eagles spent several minutes circling each other before straightening out and together heading west.
The fledgling osprey on the left has a fish. The fledgling bald eagle on the right wants it! The osprey held onto his meal.
A female fledgling very proud of her fish. She caught it, went to a perch and removed its head before flying off to find a safer place to eat.
Some time later I realized I was looking at a now well-fed female juvenile osprey!
I Can Do this
The imperative for Life is to Live.
This is one of this year’s fledgling bald eagles. The injury to its wing is large.
Yet, he is fishing successfully.
Animals realize something is different when injured like this.
But the imperative stands: live.
This eaglet will keep flying and fishing until there is no life left.
I hope he is the 1 in 10 of each year’s fledglings that makes it to adulthood.

Bald Eagle Foot Check! August 20, 2017
Way, way, way across the lake
I watched a 4 year-old bald eagle just about drop its fish.
Being eagle, it simply stalled in mid-air
reached down between its feet
totally let go of the fish with one foot
rearranged the slippery critter
clamped both feet on the fish and headed for shore.
The mid air stall was impressive!
Hershey
Hershey came by yesterday.
Gave me a gift: his majesty and artistry as he landed above me.
I am delighted to share it with you.

JL Neighborhood: 4 Wing Beats August 13, 2017
Hershey, a bald eagle, came this morning and perched almost above me.
Oh, dear friends, I and my iPhone tried hard to capture Hershey’s takeoff.
I wish it were clearer, but wanted you to at least see a little bit. Sigh.
Video is just not my forte; the format is not really suited to my equipment.
Will have stills for you tomorrow.
