Jordan Lake. The moon, edging towards fullness on Monday, was caught in layered clouds. The great egret winged towards a safe roost in the trees for the night. May your sleep also find soft lit dreams in which to safely dwell for the night. Peace and Grace, Doc Ellen
Jordan Lake. Been a while since I have posted a Natural Minute. World has been going by too fast and too noisy. However, this morning I managed to find 60 seconds of serenity for all of us. Take care, be safe. Stay oh so well.
Jordan Lake. Ospreys often dance … the whole arc of sky their stage. This performance occurred this morning. I am glad I can share the moment with all of you.
Jordan Lake, Dawn. This is the third hover that Hershey had done inside of four minutes. He came dashing off of the shoreline, went into a hover, looked, pulled out, circled around. He did that same hover, half dive maneuver once more. You are seeing the third hover that he held for more than 4 seconds. You can also see that he once again did not actually go after whatever it was in the water that had his attention. I sure wonder what it was that had caused the repeated attempts!
It has been a day both of aching souls and heart-felt thankfulness for courage shown on September 11, 2001. May we take the much needed quiet gentleness of the mourning dove into our sleep. Rest well. Peace and Grace, Doc Ellen
Jordan Lake: 09/10/2021. I believe these are black terns. Not often seen here. The small flock appeared to have both adults and juveniles. Identification as Black Terns has been confirmed by NC Museum of Natural Sciences. Birds seen between Vista Point and Ebenezer Beach this morning between 7 and 9 AM.
