Jordan Lake. This morning we have a very quiet Haw River here at the Jordan Lake Dam. They are doing repair work on the hydroelectric unit and they’ve slowed the river way down while they do that work this morning. Enjoy the quietness of the river. Jordan Lake. There are two species of crows at the lake. There is the American crow and the fish crow. The easiest way to tell these two very similar species apart is to listen to them. I am certain you know the caw caw of the American crow so here is the fish crow for comparison.
Great Egret Flight

Red-Headed Woodpecker and It’s Fledgling
Jordan Lake. Earlier in the season I posted pictures of the parent red-headed woodpeckers. Here is one of the parents and its fledgling! I love the brilliance of the adults, but I also adore the quiet brown essence of the fledgling.The fledgling sticks a neat landing in 2nd photo.
