The crisp autumn day has slid into the quiet of nightfall. There is just enough coolness in the air to cause the mourning dove to fluff its feathers into a night quilt. May we all slip under our quilts and safely find quiet dreams. Peace and grace, Doc Ellen

Jordan Lake: I wanted a photo for the first day of Autumn. The weather was not cooperating. I had about given up when there was a small gap in all of the clouds and some of the rain and the wind trailed off. I watched this Pine Warbler do a tumble off of a branch and quickly dash after an insect to eat. Then the clouds let go of the rain and I made a soggy trip home. The glimpse of the pine warbler was a great start to Autumn and I quickly dried off as I sat down to share the warbler with all of you.
The cypress tree has knees that allow it to bridge very different environments – soil, water and air. The cypress tree reminds me that bridges in life are often needed. Thanksgiving Day gives me the opportunity to reach from my heart to yours and to tell each of you how utterly grateful I am that you allow me into your lives by sharing what I see and photograph. So please take my thank you through this special day and into many tomorrows and pass the joy on to the next heart or soul that needs your help to build a healing bridge. Peace and Grace, Doc Ellen
For all the eons that bald eagles have existed here in North America they have danced.
Even when a breeding pair has been together for years they dance.
Especially as the year turns from fall towards winter, their breeding season.
Each year the pair do aerial renewals of their relationships.
