Ranger Nest:

The two chicks are wet and hungry. Mom brings in a fish. Being eagles, the two chicks each try to get to mom first to grab the fish from her talons. A free-for-all ensues. The biggest chick wins the fish. Mom goes out on the big branch to continue drying out from all the rain. The smaller chick begs from its bigger sibling for some fish but doesn’t get any. The little one then tries to beg from Mom but she doesn’t have a fish to give. This is typical bald eagle behavior. The high thin weap-weap-weap calling is the sound of a hungry bald eagle chick.

One of the chicks is branching!
This nest is not the usual kind for our bald eagles.
Usually there are branches above and to the sides for the chicks to practice moving out on or up to.
In this case, there is pretty much only sideways.
The video is a quick 15 second snippet of one of the chicks branching.

I was sitting at my computer yesterday, editing photos.
My cat Grayced was lying just inside the picture window.
Suddenly Grayced levitated off his cushion and I stopped breathing when this red-tailed hawk appeared within 2 feet of the window.
This is actually the second pass of the hawk as he tried for a songbird at my feeder – I didn’t have camera in hand for the first pass.
The red-tailed hawk missed the songbird.  About stopped my heart.  Scared my cat silly.
Whew!!!!!
