Jordan Lake: You know how youngsters, of any species, always go for the biggest chunk of food? This first winter herring gull caught a rather large fish, and, yes, managed to eat the whole thing!

Jordan Lake. The air temperature was 40°F. Birds are meticulous about staying clean. I would not want to jump in the lake with the air that cold and water temperature of 50°F, but both the eastern bluebirds and the cedar waxwing (to the right) did just that! They enjoyed their baths. Brrr!

Jordan Lake. This American crow showed up all by himself and then proceeded to talk to anybody that would listen but I think it was mostly just Doc listening. I hope that you can also hear his quiet rolling chuckles from deep down in his throat. Take care, be safe. Be well.
Jordan Lake. The fog bank this morning was so very interesting and in contrast to a little bit of the low rumbling roar of our neighbors on their way to work or to school or back home again. Stay safe, be well.
This morning I watched Mama Godiva fly into the upper reaches of a dead tree and snatch a branch out to use to repair her nest. It was a rather pointy and many branched section that she had. But she did manage to get it into the nest. I’ve often wondered when I watch the bald eagles do this, as in the first picture, how the eagle don’t get all tangled up in all the other branches around them. But they make it in and they make it out and they make it to the nest! Go mama Godiva go.

I am glad and very grateful to let you know that my GoFundMe campaign is just shy of the 2/3 point. When thinking of this upcoming milestone, I got to remembering the day I first got to Jordan Lake. I have made a short video so that you too can share in that memory. Please enjoy the serenity of the waters of Jordan Lake with me.
