H&G Nest
Bald eagle chicks are hatched with their arrogance and aggression present from the moment of breaking out of the shell.
These are the 2 fledglings from the H&G nest.  Siblings.
They fought for dominance in the nest, and even though they only began flying 3 weeks ago, the desire for dominance is on display.
Upside down.  Inside out.  All over the sky they flew and practiced the skills they would need in 5 years in order to win a mate.

“Really? The bald eagle has 2 focal point in each eye? Whoa! There is a relative of the desert roadrunner that visits Jordan Lake each summer! Come and explore with Doc Ellen some of the most interesting, odd and take home facts about the birds at Jordan Lake. Be dressed for the hot weather and bring binoculars as the second half of the program will be outdoors as we look for eagles and oddities.”

By Jordan Lake Neighborhood: Early Morning Deer Visit

I had just settled into my chair on the shoreline of the lake this morning. A family of deer stepped from the swampy area across from me. Momma Deer was cautious but she was also curious about the human quietly sitting in her chair. I smiled as she led her family across the shallow water and stepped up on the bank about 12 feet from me. Hesitating for a moment, Momma deer decided I wasn’t a danger. The family trotted past me and headed up the hill toward their daytime resting place. Oh, my.
